Applied-for mark  “GU Clothes”  is being opposed

FAST RETAILING Co., Ltd., headquartered at 10717-1, Sayama, Yamaguchi City Yamaguchi 754-0894, Japan, owner of National (VN) Trademark Registration No. 236830 – “GU, hình”, currently in effect  in Vietnam for products/services  in Class 25, 35 and other classes (the cited trademark) has petitioned with the IP Vietnam to oppose national (VN) applied-for mark application No. 4-2023-02710 - “GU Clothes”  for services “Buying and selling: clothes, footwear, gloves [costumes], hats”  in Class 35 on the grounds that the applied-for mark is confusingly similar to the cited mark already registered, in particular: (i) the word "GU" which is the dominant and distinctive element of the applied-for-mark application is identical with the cited trademark, and (ii) the services in Class 35 mentioned above covered by the applied-for mark is identical or similar to products and services in Groups 25 and 35 covered by the cited mark.

The case is being handled by the IP Vietnam./.
